Religion maps

Maps of faith: how the world’s religions are distributed across countries, regions and municipalities.

18 maps in this collection

Religious maps show how faith is distributed across the world, within countries and down to the level of individual municipalities. They are among the most widely shared thematic maps, and also among the easiest to misread, because the data behind them comes from censuses, surveys and estimates collected in different ways.

This collection covers prevailing religions worldwide, Hinduism as a share of each nation’s population, religion in Europe around 1950, India’s 2001 census, and regional maps of Indonesia, Montenegro and the dioceses of Colombia’s Valle del Cauca.
